Wonders is a collection of Questions that analyze the relationships and behaviors of White people and Black people, and Black people and themselves. The questions are designed to stimulate thought about controversial issues and ideas and provoke positive change in society. Although the questions are open-ended, the author has suggested potential answers to stimulate discussion. Author J.Earl Ricks takes a courageous step in challenging us to confront these sensitive topics, so that we can begin the process of finding solutions to racial and cultural biases.
A Reader's Thoughts
Utilizing an informal conversation format between the Reader and himself, J. Earl Ricks explores veiled racial, economic, educational, social, and political messages contained within seemingly innocuous routine conversations which negatively impact the African American community.
With a question and teaching style that mirrors the Socratic method, Ricks deftly and adroitly piques the reader with a series of questions and statements that gently and hypnotically creates a variety of intellectual wonder, exploration, discovery, and analysis.
A must read for every American who desires for America to fulfill its creed for every citizen without race as a qualifier for reaching one's potential!
